The Dutch company Tematoys started producing detailed 1/50th scale model trucks in 1994. These products were appreciated by transport companies which used them as promotional gifts for their customers and employees. In 2006, Tematoys merged into WSI Models, who continued manufacturing model trucks in 1/50th and 1/87th scale under its own name, but moved production from the Netherlands to China. A range of 1/64th scale trucks was first introduced by WSI Models under the "Thematoys" name, but later the traditional spelling was reused for diecast trucks in 1/64th and 1/87th scale. In 2016, a series of five classic and one modern 1/43rd scale model cars and one motorcycle in the livery of the Dutch motor club ANWB also appeared under the Tematoys name. These models were originally an exclusive offer for ANWB members.
