The Italian company Progetto K produced 1/43rd scale models from 1977. The business was founded by Fabrizio Petrucci and was initially based in Rome and later in the Florence region. The first models were made of resin and only made in limited numbers, but in the late 1980s the material was changed to diecast metal and the production quantity was increased. The range consisted of sports cars and popular cars from Italy, mainly Alfa Romeos, Fiats, Lancias, Ferraris and Maseratis from the 1950s to the 1980s. The models were usually available in various versions (also as racing cars, emergency or service vehicles, depending on the prototype), and their level of detail is quite good, but not completely up to the standards of the slightly more expensive models from the Italian competitors Best and Bang. A sub-range of Progetto K, Exem, released two diecast models (Austin-Healey Sprite, Fiat 124 Spider) and several resin models. Furthermore, a range called Pego including detailed Chinese-made 1/43rd scale models of Alfa Romeos and Lancias from the 1970s to the 1990s was introduced in 2007. Production ceased in 2011.
