Record was one of the first French manufacturers of 1/43rd scale resin models. The company was founded by André Ripert, Jean Pierre Calligaro and Michel Goupille in Aix-en-Provence in 1979 and focused on sports and racing cars from the 1950s to the 1980s. However, some classic French road cars from the 1930s were also part of the range. The models were usually sold in kit form. Already since 1977, André Ripert had also run along with Jean Pierre Gauthier the company MRF (Miniatures Roues Fils), which produced similar kits. After Gauthier's death, a part of the MRF models were integrated into the Record range in 1983, and from then both company names appeared on the boxes. In the early 1980s, Record also offered transkits for 1/43rd scale diecast models by Solido and Conrad allowing to convert them into realistic miniatures of contemporary racing and rally cars. Production of the Record models ceased in 1991, but some of them were re-issued by the German manufacturer I.M.U. in the following year.
