The French manufacturer Safir produced a series of 1/43rd scale classic cars from 1961 to 1978. The models were made of diecast with plastic parts. In 1970 Safir introduced the "Champion" range: 1/43rd scale plastic models of Le Mans and Formula 1 racing cars with metal baseplates. Safir/Champion also released models in 1/20th and 1/66th scale. Besides the racing cars, the range in the smaller scale also included some commercial vehicles. The model released in the big scale was an Alpine Renault A110, which was available in various liveries and later reissued by Macadam from Portugal in the early 1990s.
