The first Spark models were introduced in early 2002: detailed 1/43rd scale resin models of Le Mans racing cars which hadn't been modelled by the established manufacturers of diecast models yet. On the other hand, the Chinese-made Spark models were cheaper than similar products by European manufacturers of handbuilt models. The Minimax company, which produces the models, gradually extended its range, which now also consists of resin models of road and concept cars, several diecast models in 1/43rd scale and some models in other scales. Minimax also manufactures model cars for sister brands such as Red Line (Ferrari models) and Bizarre (unusual historic racing and road cars), as well as for other customers such as Replicars (Dutch model car distributor), the Japanese toy importer Kokusai Boeki Kaisha (Rêve Collection series) or Mercedes-Benz (promotional models).
